“Woe to the world for temptations to sin! For it is necessary that temptations come, but woe to the one by whom the temptation comes!” Matthew 18:7
The “blame game” is a scapegoat. Yes,that’s something we can all agree on. So, first things first; by no means does this passage excuse us from being responsible for our actions. We are held accountable for all of our sins.
However, it does remind us of the compassionate, understanding and empathetic Christ we serve. In other words,
HE GETS IT!
God knows how difficult it is for us to resist temptation. He knows our weaknesses. He knows our fr-enemies are out to tempt and try us, desiring that we fall into the mess we’ve previously escaped. Each way we turn, we are persuaded to go back to our “old ways.” Or, to want those desires that benefited us NONE.
